The Company
Fieldwork was inspired by our shared frustrations with developing firmware. We felt that coding agents do not perform as well at low-level embedded work as they do at the more common application/web/scripting work.
The reason for this is simple - these tasks are under-represented in training data. Our aim here is to fill in that gap.
The People
TK is an Senior AI engineer at LinkedIn and got his CS bachelors from Caltech. In his free time, he wrote the algorithms behind axtheory.com. TK is leading the project by designing the eval/training pipelines and the verifier libraries, creating tasks, and analyzing what the models are getting wrong.
August is a civil engineer, experienced project manager, and CS minor from UW Seattle - bringing expertise from exposure to FAA electronics engineering and personal IoT and microcontroller projects. August manages the taxonomy, runs the observability/monitoring platforms, writes tasks, performs PM and admin duties, and handles all front-end work across the company.
Conlon is an experienced electrical and hardware engineer. He is responsible for designing our custom circuits, sourcing components, and verifying the electricity works as expected. In his free time, Conlon runs axtheory.com. He comes from UC Berkley and currently works at a solar engineering company in NYC.
Matt is a Physics + CS double major from UC Berkley, and has spent 6 years as a cyber-security expert working at Tanium. He is our lead on the software-to-hardware interface, the deployment infrastructure, virtualization, and contributes security-based tasks to our benchmark.
